Marital life must be revitalized every day. It is an urgent action that demands our effort daily. However, it’s a shock to see an unusual increase in divorces throughout America and Europe. It is a worldwide trend that has taken over the family.
Marriages last less because the fabric of togetherness is collapsing. That said, what are the main mistakes that cause breakups and divorces in Christian marriages? There are at least six, clearly identified:
1.- Don’t dedicate time to each other.
2.- Lack of good communication, tact, and saying whatever things come to mind.
3.- Unhealed emotional wounds of childhood and adolescence that has emerged in the marital relationship.
4.- To build a life project at the marital and family level.
5.- Neglecting each other and not feeding love.
6.- Thinking that separation is the only solution to problems.
Remember that falling in love is the first motivation to join as a couple; however, if love is doesn’t grow and strengthen over a given period. When hardships and crises come, you will only think of divorce.
Love is fundamental. We pay it in the heart and lavish it on our spouse.
The apostle Paul made mentioned of that when he penned: “Love suffers long, it is benign; love is not envious, love is not boastful, it isn’t puffed up; it doesn’t do anything wrong, it doesn’t look for its own thing, it doesn’t get irritated, it doesn’t hold a grudge; nor does it enjoy injustice, more than it enjoys the truth. It suffers everything; it believes everything; it expects everything; it endures everything.” (1 Corinthians 13: 4-7)
